Rob Lane

Born 17th September 1974, Rob Lane / Laney is a fan of any genre of music as long as it holds a strong hook and melody. His background was shaped by the LA Hard Rock scene of the late eighties and early nineties with such bands as Poison, Van Halen, Extreme and Motley Crue. Whilst openly accepting the changing music climate around that time he became a huge fan of alternative bands such as Collective Soul and the Goo Goo Dolls.
Always one to stay busy and active, Laney has divided his musical commitments between several hard working bands on the UK and International music scene. Since 2004 his Nottingham based band TEENAGE CASKET COMPANY have combined the fun and energy of Poison and Bon Jovi but bolted it to a raw punk rock backbone! The band are armed with an endless stream of hook laden anthems and released two hugely popular CD’s – 2005’s debut album ‘Dial It Up’ voted ‘Independent Album Of The Year’ by POWERPLAY MAGAZINE and 2006’s ‘Eat Your Heart Out’.
During the summer of 2007 Laney got the opportunity to perform with THE BULLETBOYS when the multi-million selling American Hard Rock band headed out on their first European live shows in seventeen years. Laney74 was the only UK musician on a line up also featuring legendary US rock acts FASTER PUSSYCAT and ENUFF Z’NUFF. The American Glam Slam Tour performed throughout the UK before flying to Norway, Switzerland, Spain and Italy. Since then Rob has been the touring bassist for the band each time they return to Europe.
The LET LOOSE connection came into the frame the very same summer when Rob hooked up with Richie to work on the FEETGAZER project. Later on Rob would lend his hand to the PAINT IT IN GOLD recording sessions and was excited to be invited back to be part of the reformation of the band with Lee back on board.
Rob recently won ‘Bassist of the Year’ at London’s prestigious Pure Rawk Awards which received 15,000 Votes worldwide.
Whether it be Hard Rock, Glam or Power Pop of LET LOOSE, Rob is equally at home as long as there is a stage and an audience!
“If you go and see any band with Laney74 on bass you know you are going to see a Rock show – top value for money and well worth going to see.”
“On their current tour The Bulletboys feature possibly the UK’s most in demand Rock bassist Laney74 – so a good show is assured”
